Saturday, April 29, 1865. At dawn this morning we were wakened, & going out found ourselves in Newberne N.C. The C.C. Agent was very cold, and we felt badly treated. We took rooms at the Hotel & thought we had not money enough laid our cause before the Lord. In the afternoon walking with Manda we met a soldier we knew in Nashville. He seemed delighted to see us. Evening writing letters and reading the Bible.
