Tuesday, May 9, 1865. Anchored in Hampton Roads soon after daylight. As soon as we went ashore sent a card to John W- & though he came on shore did not see him. Met Rev Kirfoot, Misses Lord & -. At four off on the Escort. In a State room with two rebel ladies from Richmond. Sat up late reading my Bible & found it the greatest comfort. A day of love and trust
