Thursday, May 11, 1865. Tried all day to write but did almost nothing. Felling the effects of the trip South. Long, good letter from Mother. How I long for home sometimes. How refreshing the rest and quiet will be! Miss Fowler is a good friend, one that I would love and cherish always. Feel very thoughtful and prayerful, as though solemn event was just before me.
