Saturday, June 17, 1865. Went in the morning to Arlington. Had one of the finest views of Washington and vicinage that is possible. Mr W- left us, and we were sorry to lose so kind a friend. P.M. writing After tea with Miss F Messrs S & Miller to the White House and heard the band play then to the Park and sitting under the trees had a pleasant talk. Home and spent the evening writing.
