Wednesday, June 28, 1865. Miss Mattie on every hand. Rode with Mr Sanford to Campbell & had a nice "making up" with Nellie. Busy writing all afternoon. Evening Mr Swartwout came and spent with me. Found him intelligent pleasant and better than all the rest religious and an earnest laborer for Christ. Telegram the M- will not be here tonight. Disappointed!
