Friday, July 14, 1865. Went early to Alexandria with Mrs. Wittenmyer. Found Manda and Mrs McQ- anxiously expecting us. Spent all the forenoon with them - then to Slough, and then home. Messrs Houghton and Walcott spent the evening with us. Singing and merry talk the order of the evening. These happy hours drawing to a close go home next week, and one of the saddest things is leaving Mattie.
