Thursday, July 20, 1865. Still rushing on at R. Road speed. Reached Chicago at noon. Rested a while at the depot and then to Camp Douglass and spent the P.M. with the Misses McDowell & Miss Ingalls. Two tedious hours in the depot before the train started Off at midnight but thoroughly tired out. The third night that I have had to sit up & sleep in the seat. Reading Dickens Pic-wic Papers, while waiting for trains.
