Monday, July 31, 1865. Up by day light & at the washing. It went rather hard as I have been out of practice so long At eight Laura came for me to go to the country with her on horseback. We went & had a good time. The ride through the grand woods was inspiring. Too tired to do much when I came back but ironed a little. Wrote letters to Pa, & Manda.
