Tuesday, August 1, 1865. With Mothers help got the ironing done bright & early. Took Charlie & went with Mr Corkbulls to the celebration. Most of the speeches very good but Bro W-s best. Charlie very restless and cross. Mr B- handed me letters from Mattie, Tillie, S.J. R & C. Saw C- sitting not far from me. Writing letters all the evening. Now after ten & must stop.
