Tuesday, August 8, 1865. Stirring early again Nearly all forenoon sewing carpet rags P.M. Wrote a long letter to Mattie. Then sewed more than an hour. Accepted Mrs F-s invitation, and with Ma took tea there Prof' & Mrs Fortesque & the "wee ones" there Went with Jennie and Kellie to call on Laura. At lamplight Jennie read us in the Atlantic, the article to my "Silent Friend."
