Friday, August 18, 1865. Off soon after six for the Home with Mr S- The ride very pleasant & company good Dined on an exceedingly small lunch under a shady tree. Reached the Home about two o'clock. Mrs Platt & Miss Ella very kind Spent the eve' on the banks of the silvery Des' Moines listening to the sweet songs of the little orphans. All seemed happy & as we knelt at the prayer circle I was deeply thankful.
