Saturday, September 2, 1865. While busy with the morning work Charlie announced a gentleman. To my surprise on entering the parlor greeted Mr B- Only stayed a little while Busy all P.M. putting down carpet & cleaning house. Eve Mr B- came again. Most the time talking on general themes, but standing in the moonlight the subject I most dreaded was discussed. My heart aches for him, but I cannot yield an inch.
