Thursday, September 7, 1865. Said goodby to Mr. B_ During the A.M. Manda & I succeeded in getting the library carpet down. Wrote letters all the P.M and at dark had only three unanswered. All the evening spent sewing. One thing hangs like a weight on my heart but I can only trust that in some way that I cannot now understand it is for my good. I know that they drive me to more constant prayer.
