Friday, September 8, 1865. While at breakfast Dr Elliott came & to my great surprise offered me a place in the college. Went with Manda to town & then took the noon train for Burlington Found Mrs Dee & [Lyah] as kind as ever. Tho' the walk up the hill was oppressive the P.M. with Mrs Darwin was delightful. Felt while talking with her and Mr D- that I was learning much. Back to Mrs Dees & spent a most happy eve Leaving my perplexities with God
