Tuesday, September 12, 1865. Slept very little last night and arose early feeling badly, & little prepared for the trial that came. After all my carefulness and economy to be blamed with want of it was more than I could endure & I wept bitterly. But in prayer found comfort & peace. Nellie Emma and Myra here to tea. Left quite early & Manda and I had a sad talk, & long walk alone. O! how hard to bear all this.
