Monday, September 18, 1865. Out of sympathy for my back Ma & Manda did the washing but I worked around and by noon was tired out. Went to bed a while but felt the worse for it. Sewing till late. Wrote a "finale" to Mr B- and hope it will end the matter, also a long letter to Father. I am very sad much of the time lately, more so than for months before, but it best or God would not permit it. But O, so terribly hard to bear!
