Tuesday, September 19, 1865. Up early and had the ironing done in good time. Then came just such a scene as I have read of but hoped never to know My heart bled. How can any make a buisiness of making others wretched? Called at Mollie K-s and stayed till the train came. Sat by or near M- & Mrs W & talked with them on the way to B-. Proved a most pleasant trip. Found Mrs Darwin very sick. Had a delightful eve with her - talking and reading. Retired at nearly 12. o'clock.
