Wednesday, September 20, 1865. Called at Mrs Dee's, but could find no trace of Mrs C-. Went to see M- and stayed all day. Strange to see one so near the grave so full of life. Good talk with [Tishie?], and wished on leaving that I could have stayed longer. Tillie walked with me into the South-hill, and we talked sadly of the propable death of the one we all love. Evening spent as the last one reading and talking with Mrs D-. If I could throw off this weight that holds me down these would be happy days.
