Thursday, December 7, 1865. Thanksgiving day! Sewing most of the A.M. at 1/2 past ten to church & heard an excellent sermon by Dr Corkhill. Then to Mrs Darwins to a fine thanksgiving dinner. The world so bright & lovely in the mantle of snow that covers everything. Wrote to Mrs W-. Eve to the party at Mr Bennetts & enjoyed it pretty well for me - A long to be remembered day, so many pleasant things have occurred. A real thanksgiving day. Not asleep till one o'clock.
