Monday, December 18, 1865. Most of the day passed nicely but at recess in the P.M my trial came. I could not get the children quiet and our Prin' was vexed. Went home from school with a heavy heart, but soon threw if off and was lost in the Philosophy of Woman. Read all the evening. Face swollen some & afraid of trouble from a tooth. Prayed very earnestly for grace & patience for the coming day.
