Thursday, December 21, 1865. The usual round of duties in school today. Letter from bro Joe giving his version of the heart affair. Not very serious results likely to follow. All the evening spent in M_s room. I confess to myself that I am not brave, and my heart is not as much in my work as it should be. My education has cost too much to spend it in this way. I look & hope for better things before many days
