Thursday October 16th 1924 I got up at three oclock to be with Vene. She seems a little better. Edith is not teaching this week. I wrote Mattie Stitt and Fannie. Then slept awhile and went to the depot with mail. To bed early. Friday October 17th 1924 I got up at 3.30 AM to be with Vene. A beautiful day. Edith did washing. Sophia Woolf called to invite me over for the day. I went but when I got back about 5 oclock I found the girls working over Vene. She had another attack later which left her very weak. I wrote Mrs Falk today and had letter from Warner & Ida Burkett. Saturday October 18th 1924 Home all day not very well. Vene about the same. The girls busy with the work and care of their mother. Martie not very good. Letter from Hattie. Wrote to her. She has gone to Des Moines with Ott & Fannie. Sunday October 19th 1924 Harry and Mabel came early. I did not go to church. Visited in afternoon with Harry on the porch and read papers. Rode out to Browns late in the PM. Harry took Edith out of an errand. Monday October 20th 1924 The Pawnee folks went home. Laura to school till noon and engaged a substitute for awhile. All busy here at house. Martie sick in bed again. Charlie gets his breakfast down town. Vene is growing more helpless and more care
