Mrs Merriman's Johnny Cake 1 cup corn meal 1 " flour (large) 1/2 " sugar (scant) 1 " milk (sweet) Before adding milk put in 3 level teaspoons B. powder and mix up dry 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 " melted butter last thing drop in an egg and beat up thoroughly quick oven 1/2 hr. Good; but apt to fall if not thick enough
