Oven Cake. 1 lb flour, 1 of sugar, 6 eggs, 1/2 lb butter, cup of cream, & level teaspoonful of soda. Any seasoni you like - Bake in large or small cakes. Cup cake. 4 cups flour, 3 of sugar, 1 of butter, 1 of cream, 5 eggs & a teaspoonful soda. Wonders 2 lbs flour, 3/4 lb sugar, 1/2 lb butter, 9 eggs, rosewater, mace. Polka cake. 3 spoonfuls sugar, 1 of butter, 3 eggs, & flour to make it stiff as pound cake. Love cake. 1 1/2 lb butter rubbed in 2 of flour, 1 egg, wineglass of wine & one of rosewater, 2 of yeast, & a small quantity of currants, nutmeg, & cinnamon. This cake should be baked in small pans. Black cake. 1/2 lb butter, 1/2 lb sugar, 1/2 pt molasses, 5 eggs, not quite a lb flour, teaspoonful soda.
