Marble cake Mrs H [Brisett?] 1 cup butter & 2 of sugar (white) 3 1/2 cups flour, 1 cup milk, 2 tea spoons cream tartar [mix?] the flour & 1 tea spoon soda in the milk. Beat all well together & lastly add the whipped whites of 8 eggs. This is the light batter. Then take 1 cup of molases, 1 1/2 of sugar, 1/2 cup butter, the beatin yolks 3 eggs, 3 cups flour, 3/4 cup milk with 1/2 tea spoon soda in it. Spice to your taste. Put in your pan [illegible] the lhight & darke batter. Sheaking it about so as to resemble marble & bake 1 1/2 hours Ice if you choose. [Croline?] cake Miss Thomas Tennessy 1 1/2 [ee?] white sugar. 12 eggs white, & yolks beaten seperately 1 1/2 [?] flour, 1 ee Butter, 1 tea spoon soda & 4 cream tartar sifted with the flour.
