Yellow Cabbage Pickles (Mrs H Dorseh For a 3 gal jar, cut 8 good sized white loafed Cabbages. 4 Dozn green peppers - 30 onions, - Mix in 3 oz of Turmeric. Mix well, & pour over strong salt & water boiling hot. Next morning drain of, & squeeze so hard as not to leave any water with them, then mix in 2 oz ground mustard - 2 of ground ginger, 2 of beaten celery seed, 1 lb white mustard seed. 1 of finely grated horse radish, 2 lb sugar, 1 large cup Salad oil - mix all together, then put it in yr jar, & cover with boiling vinegar - next day pour the vinegar off, & boil again - pour over yr pickle - lay double brown paper on, & sprinkle sugar on it - paste up when cold, & put away in a dry place - age improves it. Tomato soy. Scald, peel & drain well in a colander, & to 8 pts of tomatoes cut up, put 1 pt of onions, a good half tea cup of red peppers cut up, 2 cups of sugar, 5 cup of vinegar, & 1 heaping table spoon of salt cook all together - a tea spoon of blk pepper
