Premium Whitewash. As it will soon be time to commence preparations for white washing, we give the following, which is said to be excellent. Slack 1/2 bu mix unslacked lime with boiling water, covering it during the process to keep on the steam. Strain the liquid through a fine sieve,or strainer, & add a peck of salt previously well dissolved in water; 3 lbs ground rice boiled to a thin paste, & stirred in boiling hot. 1/2 lb Spanish whiting, & 1 lb clean glue, previously dissolved by soaking it well, & then hanging over a slow fire in a small kettle, inside a large one filled with water. Add 5 gals hot water to the mixture stir it well, & let it stand a few days, covered from the dirt. It should be put on right hot. For this purpose it can be kept in a kettle on a furnace. It is said that 1 pt of this mixture, if properly put on will cover a square yd. The brushes may be more or less small according to the neatness of the job required. It answers as well as oil or paint for wood or stone, & is cheaper. If retains its brilliancy for many years. There is
