Recipe for Rheumatism One oz of Bicarbonate of Potash dissolved in 48 table-spoonfuls of water, & 8 drops of Fluid extract of Colchicum to every table-spoonful of water. Shake together - Dose 1 tablespoonful every six hours - Throat wash (1 heaping table spoonful of Chlorate of Potash, to half a pint of water, & 8 drops of Carbolic Acid, 1 teaspoon of Glycerine.) Cayenne pepper salve 1 tea spoonful of Cayenne mixed into a sufficient quantity of lard to form a smooth ointment, smear well over the part affected once a day until the gathering break. Cure for Small Pox. One oz Cream of Tartar, dissolved in a pt of water, & drank at intervals when cold, is said to cure Small Pox in a few days.
