Sponge roll Whip to a stiff froth the whites of 9 eggs, & beat well the yolks of 6 - 3/4 lb pulverized white Sugar, & 1/2 lb flour which must be add last, & stirred in very slowly - season to yr taste. This will make 2 rolls - whisk yr batter grease yr two biscuit pan, & pour in bake in quick oven - When done, & while warm, spread each one with jam, or nice stewed fruit (goosberries are very nice) & roll up - eat with warm sauce - To Stain wood Mahogany cold Boil [illegible] with 2 oz log wood chips in 1 gal water - Apply with a [painters?] brush when dry give the wood 2 [coating?] of pearl solution, 2 drachms to the quart of This is nice to Stain floors & [cheap?]
