Saturday January 1st 1916 It rained all of last night and today, we could not go to Frank Woolfs. The girls did the work. Edith took down decorations and cleaned up the house and Lorna did baking. I finished lace for a handkerchief. The time passes so quickly. [Vene?] is some better but far from well. Sunday January 2nd 1916 It cleared of warmer. Will and the girls went to church. I wrote Hattie. After dinner Will and I walked over to Duncans. Lizzie is down in bed. The girls got their things ready to go away at 6.30. Jim and Will went to the depot with them. My back still hurts me. Monday January 3rd 1916 It was like a spring day. Vene did not try to do washing I was going down town but was interested in some fancy work and did not go. I had a letter from Hattie. Cora had the new years dinner. Hattie starts the 12th to California. Tuesday January 4th 1916 I went up town this forenoon and on to see how Lizzie Duncan was. Vene did washing today and got the clothes dry though the weather was very threatening again. I wrote Hattie today.
