Wednesday January 5th 1916 It blew up very cold in the night I was at home all day worked on [stand?] cover for Vene. It was a year today since Hattie and I started to DeLand. Mother would have been 90 years old today. Thursday January 6th 1916 The wind was not so strong today. I did not try to go up town. I helped some with the ironing. Vene is feeling about well again. I wrote Cora and finished tatting I am making for Lizzie Duncan. Friday January 7th 1916 Weather fine again. I was busy all the short forenoon went over to Lizzies for afternoon. Carl is about sick with Grippe. I stopped at [Harty Mc [Krishys?] for my switch I am well pleased with it. A nice letter from Rob tonight. Saturday January 8th 1916 I wrote a letter to Hattie and a half dozen cards Then did some mending and cleaned up my room Frank and Sophia Woolf came and later we met Will up town and went to the picture show of "Gretna Green". Will and I got home just at dark. I knit all the evening. Sunday January 9th 1916 It began to rain and freeze early in forenoon. Stella came with the baby while we were at breakfast. I wrote a long letter to Ann Gilbert and read in a book Jim and Will helped Stella to the depot in a rain at 5.25. We visited about the fire in evening
