Monday May 8th 1916 I went down town to get me a cool dress. Found a linen I like. Ella and I were down in afternoon to a picture show. Spent the evening on the porch. Tuesday May 9th 1916 Hattie's birthday. I was down town this morning to get some things for Will. I was at home in afternoon. I am getting a box of extra things ready to express home. Wednesday May 10th 1916 Art Mc took my box to the office. I attended to that and went up to see about my dress. Then went out on East 5th St to call on Nellie Williams. Wrote Rob on the afternoon. Did some washing and ironing. got things ready to pack. Thursday May 11th 1916 Soon as we had breakfast finished packing. Art Mc took us to the station. Left at 9:20. We had a pleasant days trip. A letter from Fannie. We saw in the Iowa City paper where William came near being hurt at the new bridge. Friday May 12th 1916 We arrived at Memphis at 9 am. Spent the forenoon in the depot. Will went to the wharf and found we could not get a boat till Monday. we got rooms at "The Adler" and eat at Caffeteria. 30 years ago today we were married. Wrote to Jane & Fannie. Saturday May 13th 1916 We went to park and long street car ride, rested in afternoon. In evening went to a beautiful park on river front and sat in another park awhile to watch the people. streets lighted beautifully.
