Sunday July 30th 1916 I wrote some in forenoon and got the dinner. The girls did not attempt to go to church. I slept in afternoon. After early supper Frank and Floyd Stevens came and took the girls on Auto ride to Cedar Rapids. very warm. Will and I on the porch all eve. Edith Whetstones birth day 35 years old. Monday July 31st 1916 I did bread and other baking in forenoon. The girls went down town. I helped Edith make a dress skirt in afternoon. I went down town at 9:15 and over to stay all night with Hattie. We got to Davenport early tomorrow for Mrs Folk. Tuesday August 1st 1916 It was cooled and we had a nice ride. We found where there had been rain. We did not stop long and got back to the city so I went home at 3:30. I was very tired. We had supper early. The girls went down town and I to bed early. Wednesday August 2nd 1916 Jeff McCallister came for the girls about nine oclock. he had stayed all night with his Father and said he was sitting up awhile and wanted to see the girls. Will went down town in afternoon and I slept awhile. Thursday August 2nd 1916 It was cooler this morning and later rained quite a shower. I washed some things. They got dry so I ironed them late in the afternoon. I did a lot of sweeping and cleaning as the rain had settled the dust. I was very tired. It was cool enough that I could sleep up stairs.
