Thursday August 10th 1916 I went down town with the girls at 8:15. They had some things to look after before train time at 10:10. Jeff Mc met us and we went to the depot in his car. Uncle Jim no better. he is growing weaker every day. I went over to Hatties to spend the day. Mrs Broadway was there. I got home at 5:40 with Will who had been to the fair. There was a couple of hard showers but we were not out in them Friday August 11th 1916 I did some washing and baked cookies in forenoon. Will was down town. I ironed in afternoon and got out things ready to pack to go on a trip to Keokuk by the river tomorrow. Saturday August 12th 1916 We left home at 9:15 but our train on the Rock island was late. Got lunch at Davenport and went on the boat It rained a little late in afternoon. There are pleasant people on the boat and the tale the best we have ever had. Sunday August 13th 1916 We reached Burlington about 8 oclock. Will went up to see Birdie. Left at nine again with an excursion to Keokuk. It was a sight to go through the locks in the boat. I slept while every body went up in the city. We got back to Burlington at 9:15 and we walked up to see Birdie awhile. Monday August 14th 1916 Did not leave Burlington till jist before noon. It is much cooler. The afternoon and evening was pleasantly spent with the people on board. a very fine trip.
