Friday August 25th 1916 I ironed and made tomato preserves in the forenoon. I rested awhile and went down town at 3:15. I went over home with Hattie and the girls in the Auto and Rob brought me back so I came hone at 8:30. Letter from Lydia. Saturday August 26th 1916 Will and I had a talk this morning about my trip to the west and he thinks he will go too. I had a card from Lizzie. I sewed what spare time I had. Will was down town all afternoon. he rented the West Farm for three years at $6.00 an acre to Will Graham whose Father lived on the farm some years ago. Did fancy work in evening. Sunday August 27th 1916 I wrote to Lizzie before I went to church. a fine cool day I got our dinner over and wrote some. I reviewed "The Shepherd of the Hills" as we go to see it played Tuesday Eve. Monday August 28th 1916 I sewed all the spare time I had. I am making new sleaves for my green silk dress. The folks came after supper and took me down to see Uncle Jim. he looks very bad. I come home on the car at 8:30. Tuesday August 21st 1916 I went to town at 9:15. I got a hat ordered and did some other shopping. Then had time to get my hair washed. Will had the coal for the winter put in today. I sewed in afternoon and after supper I cleaned up the cellar.
