Wednesday August 30th 1916 I worked in forenoon and put some corn to dry. I sewed some in afternoon and took a nap. We went in at 7:15 and attended "The Shepherd of the Hills." Home at 11:00 Thursday August 31st 1916 Did ironing and other work in forenoon at 1:15. I went down town and out to Mrs Swishers to "Elder Daughter Meet" Hattie took Mrs J Walter Lee home with her to stay all night. I went over for supper. Rode to town with Rob & Cora and home at 7:30 to escape a rain Friday September 1st 1916 It was 5 years today since Mother passed away and it is Mrs Kirkwards 95th birthday. I went to town at 2:15 and called on her at Mrs Jennetts. I got my new hat and a silk dress to work before I go away. Saturday September 2nd 1916 I did some baking and put some corn to dry. I sewed all afternoon and evening on a silk petticoat. The Folks went to Dubuque for an Auto trip today. weather fine. Will down town. Sunday September 3rd 1916 I was all forenoon busy about the house. Mrs Jones came home this morning. In the afternoon I wrote to Sister Ida. Warner McCall, Alma [Poiner?], Lou Reeves, and Cousin Jane. I read some in the evening. Monday September 4th 1916 It looked like rain this morning but was only a shower. I sewed all day. finished my petticoat and began silk dress. The Whetstones did not go to Reuben Homes burial.
