Thursday October 19th 1916 When we reached Minneapolis at nine oclock it was so stormy we decided to go on to St Paul and try to get on home. We missed the train by a few moments. Went to a nearby hotel. It snowed and stormed all day. We were not out of the hotel. Friday October 20th 1916 We left St Paul at 9:10 on a local train. Reached Cedar Rapids at 6:30 and got supper there before coming home on the Urban. The car was delayed so we did not get home till nearly nine. We made a fire and got things comfortable by late bed time. Saturday October 21st 1916 I swept and cleaned the whole house. Did some baking Will went to town at 1:05. I got some mail ready and went at 4:15. I met Hattie and went home with her to supper. Rob took me home in the car so I came home at 8:30. Will had got the trunk out and we unpacked that before going to bed. Sunday October 22nd 1916 I have a sore throat but we went down to Otts where we were invited for dinner. Ron took us all a ride in afternoon. Then looked over the new [house?] neat home and the bridge. We came home at 4:30. I read a lot of LeGrand's letters to Will in the evening and some in a book. weather pleasanter. Monday October 23rd 1916 My throat hurt me so we had Dr Smith came out after one oclock last night. We did not get up till nearly nine oclock. I wrote some in this book. Read some and did a little fancy work. It rained late in the afternoon.
