Sunday January 20th 1917 It had stormed in the night and was still so bad I the morning I called Cora to tell her we would not come down today. I put in the forenoon putting things in the truck. There was an awful cold wind at night. I read some and we went to bed early. Monday January 21st 1917 Will went down town in forenoon . We had a fire in the kitchen. I washed a few pieces and worked at packing I was busy all the rest of the day with getting things ready to go away. The wind did not blow but was very cold. Tuesday January 23rh 1917 We had the truck ready that Bud Jones took it down when he went with the milk. I out thing in the suit cases got our dinner over and Will took some things over to [Jents?] We were ready to leave on the 3:15 and went up home from Burlington St Hattie had Rob Cora and William there for supper. We all went to bed early. Wednesday January 24th 1917 Will went to town and later Rob took me to the depot. The train was late so I stopped at Jennies awhile. We had a pleasant ride to Chicago, a good supper near the depot and got on our train at 9 oclock and left at 10:25. a fine train. Thursday January 25th 1917 We both slept well. Were up when we come to Evansville. The days ride was very interesting. Very pleasant people in the car. Were at Chattanooga late in afternoon. We were not tired and the time down not seem long. Wrote Hattie today.
