Monday March 12th 1917 We had a very comfortable days ride on the train. The meals were satisfactory and we rested well last night. There had been heavy rains near Chattanooga. We come through Nashville before night. We could see The Capitol Building. Tuesday March 13th 1917 It rained most of the night. I did not sleep as well as last night. We arrived in Chicago at 7:10 in a snow storm. transferred to Union depot and left at 8:15 for Milwaukee. Ida met us and took us to her home in a taxi. Spent the day visiting with the folks. Aunty & Betty are with her. Wednesday March 14th 1917 It is still cold and stormy. I did some crotchet work and visited with the folks. I wrote to Hattie and Mrs Falk. Thursday March 15th 1917 Still very cold and cloudy. Spent the day as we did yesterday. Ida had a woman to wash and do other work today. Friday March 16th 1917 The forenoon soon passed and after early dinner Ida went to the depot with us. It was snowing again. It was not so bad in Chicago. We had a short wait there and left at 6 oclock. Reached Iowa City at 12:15 and went over to Hatties. Saturday March 17th 1917 It was very cold and windy. Will come to Coralville for the day. He built a fire in the house and got the trunk out. Hattie and Cora went to a party in the afternoon. Paul Helmich came in for a visit in the evening.
