Saturday April 14th 1917 Will and I went in town in the forenoon to attend Dr Clapps funeral at the M. E. Church at eleven oclock. After that we got our dinner and I went over to Aunt Libs and later to Hatties. She is very busy getting things to rights after having changes made in the old house. Sunday April 15th 1917 I went to church. Will went down to get ice for the first time and did not get back in time to go with me. I came home for dinner. I read some and looked over some things up stairs in the afternoon. Ott & Fannie got home from Des Moines. Monday April 16th 1917 It looked too threatening to take carpets out today. I took the tacks out of both rooms up stairs. cleaned the little room and took up the matting in the hall. Read in the evening. Bought of Ed Koser $11.65 bill of groceries and put away in good order. Tuesday April 17th 1917 weather warmed up fine. We cleaned both rooms up stairs. I took up the stair carpet and we put in some of the screens. I got the windows washed on the outside Art Jones put horses up the front yard to pasture. Wednesday April 18th 1917 We took up the carpet in the south room downstairs. We got it all cleaned and I put the stair carpet down again. I had a letter from Lydia and from Mrs Falk. It rained at supper time. Thursday April 19th 1917 We cleaned both the sitting and dining rooms. It was showery so it was harder to get the carpets out but we got it done all right. It was an awful days work and I was not through till bed time.
