Sunday January 6th 1918 It was very cold and snowing. Hattie was the only one that went to Church. we went down to Otts for dinner and did not come home till nearly night. We decided to not try going to Delavan tomorrow. Monday January 7th 1918 Very cold. I did not do must in the forenoon. Hattie went to town in afternoon. Will & I finished the packing We got the supper after Hattie came and I read in the evening. She was very tired. Rob & Cora in before going to town. Tuesday January 8th 1918 I put a few things in the trunk before breakfast and Mr William took it to the train for us. Will went to town to get shaved and on to the depot. Rob took me over. The train was a little late but we were at Rock Island on time for the Peoria train. It was late. We did not reach Peoria till 8:30. Went to The Regis Hotel for supper and all night. Wednesday January 9th 1918 We had a good nights rest. a good breakfast and left for Delavan at 7:30. We walked down to Venes and our baggage came in a few minutes. The folks are well and very glad of company. I unpacked and pout things in order. We have the parlor made into a bed room which is very pleasant. I wrote Hattie. Will went to town. Thursday January 10th 1918 I put in the day with fancy work and visiting with the folks. Vene busy with some extra work. Will up town till supper time. It began to snow early in the evening.
