Friday January 11th 1918 It snowed all day. Will wrapped himself up in some of Jims work clothes and got in fuel early in the day. We ate supper in the sitting room. I am knitting mittens for myself. Saturday January 12th 1918 The wind had raged all night and kept it up all day. and snow falling most of the time. Vene got some cooking done and she & Lydia ate together and Will & I on a little table in our room where we were very comfortable. Mr Stauffer brought the mail. I had a letter from Hattie. Warner McCall and Lou Reeves. Will got in fuel early in the day. We all went to bed early. Sunday January 13th 1918 The wind had gone down and Will cleaned out the paths again. It was a month today since Jim died. It was a very cold day. I wrote Hattie & Warner McCall. We ate out meals in our room and Vene with Lydia in hers. There was three three engines through on The Central & Two on the C & A at 5 PM Monday January 14th 1918 Still very cold. a few trains through. Will up town in the afternoon.
