Sunday April 7th 1918 It was late when breakfast was over. The boys went up town a little while. They went to church in the evening. I read most of the day. Did not cough quite so much. Monday April 8th 1918 Harry went home early this morning. I was about home all day. Vene started the washing in the afternoon. Tuesday April 9th 1918 It was windy and cold. Vene got a few things out. I was up to The Central Station late in the afternoon of an errand. Sophie Woolf came in with Henry Wertz. They were going out near Des Moines to the funeral of her nephew who had been killed in a RR accident in Wyoming. Wednesday April 10th 1918 I ironed some things of mine and packed the trunk in the afternoon. We have so many things with us I will be glad to get them home. Spent the evening talking. Thursday April 11th 1918 We got things taken to the depot soon after breakfast and left before noon for Peoria. Left there at 4:30 and Rock Island at 10:20. The waits were very tedious. Got to Iowa City some after twelve oclock. Found Hattie waiting for us. Went right to bed. Friday April 12th 1918 I felt jist awful all day long. I was so nervous I could hardly draw a breath. Will got Ed Kazer to take the trunk out and he built fire in the furnace. Then in afternoon went out with the light man. Hattie to town in afternoon. I was down to Fannies. Spent the evening at home.
