Friday May 17th 1918 I slept little last night but got up fairly early to get my dinner started. I got along with it nicely. Fannie & Hattie came out early in The Dodge and Ott with Rob & Cora at noon. Rob & Ott hurried away in The Dodge to escape a storm. It blew and hailed some with torrents of rain. The Urban cars stopped running. Ron walked out at 5 oclock and took the girls home in The Ford, quite a day. Saturday May 18th 1918 I did some work about the house and went to town at 2:54. I went to see Dr Smith for while I slept better last night I am far from well. I went to the picture show "The Auction Block" and came home at 6:00. I got supper and we talked on the porch till bedtime. I had a strange spell with my heart later which left me very weak. Sunday May 19th 1918 I slept fairly well but felt too weak to go to church and it looked like rain. Did some work about the house. I put the desk upstairs to rights in afternoon and wrote to Lydia. I read in the evening. The Whetstones went with The Whinneys to Muscatine. Rain in the evening. Monday May 20th 1918 I went down to the store of an errand and began to fix my silk dress with the blue trimmings in the afternoon. I sewed till supper time. I read till late then took a bath before going to bed. Will busy about the place in the yard and garden.
