Tuesday May 21st 1918 We did the washing though we got a late start. The wind was so strong I only put out a few of the things I finished fixing my silk dress. I read in the evening. a letter from Ida. Wednesday May 22nd 1918 I put the clothes out to dry and fixed the pocket to Wills trousers. In the afternoon I wrote a card to Aunt Mary Ann Dunlap who will be 100 years old next Sunday. I wrote a letter to William Byington and postal cards to Cousin Ira and Lizzie Lindley. I heard from Mattie today. Franklin Pointain was here in the evening. Later I made fruit salad & washed dishes. Thursday May 23rd 1918 I did a big ironing. After early dinner I mended and put away the clothes. Will cut out the grape vines near the garden as they had winter killed. At 4:14 Will and I went down town. I stopped at Hatties where we had a lunch supper for LeGrand as he is 24 years old today. I gave him some money for a gift. We planned to stay all night. Friday May 24th 1918 There was terrible rain late in the night and again this forenoon. Will went over town to the dentists. Hattie helped Cora wash and they put out part of the clothes. Hattie went to The Red Cross rooms and Will & I rode over to come home soon after dinner. At 4:30 Rob had a telegram that his uncle Albert Whetstones was dead at Everett, Penn. Hattie & Fannie started there at 8:15 Rob came out for my suitcase and silk coat. a letter from cousin Millie.
