Monday October 7th 1918 Vene and I went down to Ed Karen early and found a box for a bed I gave her and she and Will had it packed by dinner time Will want to town with Ed Karen in the afternoon who took it in for us. We visited all afternoon. I read some to them in evening. Vene and I were going to town in P M but Fannie advised us not to for fear of the epidemic. Tuesday October 8th 1918 Will was called out if bed by the telephone at 7:30. It was Sophie Woolf saying they would start home at 9 oclock as Earl [Dormer?] was ill and the weather looks threatening. we had breakfast eaten and everything packed so they started at that time. They had only been gone an hour till there was a heavy shower. Rob & Cora are having a hard time at the store a big trade and short of help. I went down to Ida's at 4:15. Wednesday October 9th 1918 Ida went down town this morning. I went back to bed and slept till nearly noon. I read in afternoon. weather brighter. Thursday October 10th 1918 I went to Dr Gardner for Osteopathic treatment this forenoon. I believe he will help me. a telegram from Hattie says she will be here tomorrow. a letter from Lydia tells the folks had to stay all night on the way. Got home 1 PM yesterday.
