Thursday July 24th 1919 The men did not come to work today. I was busy in the back part of the house nearly all day. Had letter from Ida. Laura took dinner in town. Spent evening with Fannie. Hattie staid all night. Friday July 25th 1919 We girls did some washing. It was a hot day. The men are cleaning walls for paper. Mr Vaughn was tearing down the summer kitchen and Henry doing other things. Ott got home today. We were down there in evening. Very warm. Saturday July 26th 1919 Laura went away this morning to Three Lakes, Wis. William took her to the station. an unpleasant day with hot wind. The men did a lot of work today. Got rooms ready to paint. Ott & Fannie here in the evening. The Andersons called, and Hazel Stillman of [Workon?] here for a call. Sunday July 27th 1919 a very warm day. Hattie went to church and I had dinner ready when she came home. We both rested in afternoon. Agnes Suderland came in afternoon. After supper I walked with her down to Otts. They were here later in evening. Monday July 28th 1919 I went to town with Rob to select paper for the house and get door locks &c. I was at Stillwells and picked out paper for my part of the house. I came home with William at eleven oclock. Hattie had her rooms cleared for the painters. The folks went to Cedar Rapids in afternoon. I looked after things here. Letters from Laura say she had to stay yesterday in Chicago.
