Friday August 8th 1919 There was a big force at work at the painting and the men were at work at the chimney. Hattie doing some cooking in forenoon and I washed some. The folks went down to Mildred McCallister's to supper. Rob ate with me. I ironed after supper. Letter from Millie Byington. Saturday August 9th 1919 A fine day. The men finished the chimney and cemented the small cellar floor for me. The men were at work at the painting. They finished the front of the house. The girls went to town after supper. I was very tired and sad and went to bed early. Had a letter from Lydia. Sunday August 10th 1919 Eight months today since Will left me. How I miss him. Hattie and the girls went to church. They were riding in the afternoon. I did some necessary work in the back part of the house. The rested awhile. Had head ache so I went right to bed after Ott & Fannie went home in evening. Monday August 11th 1919 I was working in the back pat of the house till three on afternoon. Hattie busy getting ready for the supper as all the folks were to be here. After supper we all walked through The Barracks. The young folks went to ride. Tuesday August 12th 1919 The men finished painting and Hattie paid for outside work $159.00. Charlie Wilson taking the bricks away. I put things to rights in the store room. I felt so badly I lay in bed all afternoon and grieved. Hattie had the meals today for Rob & Cora. I did not get up for supper. Later I had something to eat. The girls down to Otts and he came up to see me awhile. 8 months today since I looked at Will for the last time
