Sunday December 7th 1919 A year ago today was Saturday and such a pleasant day. Will and I were up home together preparing the house to go back Wednesday to stay awhile. When he locked the door and put the key in his pocket. I said I wish we were to stay here and he never stood on that porch again. Is it any wonder I feel there is nothing left in life. The girls went to church. Vene got a good dinner we all enjoyed. They had callers in afternoon. Monday December 8th 1919 I washed out a few things for myself in the forenoon. Vene and Lydia did some ironing in the afternoon. It is getting very cold. Laura did not come to supper and Edith went up town to go to teachers meeting with her. I crotcheted. Tuesday December 9th 1919 It was a very cold day. I wrote to Hattie and crotcheted some. Lydia was writing too. Vene was baking bread and doing some more ironing. It is 21 years today since Edith died and a year ago tonight since Will and I talked what we would do if we sold out house and went to bed together for the last time with no though of what come to pass before bed-time again. He was gone forever and I heartbroken. Wednesday December 10th 1919 It was a frightful cold day. Vene brought things from the kitchen and did cooking on the other stoves. There was a little table set in the parlor to eat on. I had a letter from Ott Hattie & Winnie Lawrence. Edith went up town with mail after she came from school. I thought of Will.
