Sunday September 3 1911 The forenoon we got the house in order and the flowers arranged after Mother was put in her casket. The funeral was at three oclock with Dr Wylie & Dr Hurlbert officiating We stopped at the cemetery awhile and put some flowers on Ediths box. Will and I stayed over home till after supper. When we came out home Mr & Mrs Hoffman went home I spent a heart-broken evening. Nothing can ever be the same Monday September 4 1911 I felt bad after a wretched night. Did little work. I tried to sleep but could not. Will down to Woolfs in the morning Birdie went to Burlington and Harry & Nellie to Chicago at 3.15 Marjorie [Hartsock?] and Cora out for the evening Tuesday September 5 1911 Did not sleep well. Will got some medicine for me today. Ida out in afternoon and Ott Fannie & Hattie out in the evening. We [illegible] "In Memory of Mother" to friends Wednesday September 6 1911 I did work in forenoon. Will busy getting ready to dig potatoes. I picked plums and grapes. A hard rain at supper time. Ott out in the evening taking business.
